Halfseas is a cozy neighborhood wine shop focused on wines with a story and the people who make them. It’s a playful, friendly hangout focused on delicious, well-made wine, community, education, and underground as well as benchmark producers. Our shop offers weekly Tuesday evening tasting events and provides a wonderful opportunity to engage with our community and make new wine friends. In addition, Halfseas acts as the living, breathing wine list to our sister restaurant, Brimmer & Heeltap, providing it with a diverse and focused selection of spectacular wines by the bottle.
We are looking for an outgoing and ebullient Sales Professional with serious interest and training in the wine world, someone who is outgoing, warm, kind, motivated and deeply knowledgeable. Our ideal candidate is a proactive and driven sales leader who will inspire both their teammates and guests in the world of wine, while maintaining a laidback and approachable vibe.

Qualifications
• Minimum of 2 years of hospitality, restaurant, and/or retail wine experience
• Excellent wine knowledge with a persistent desire to learn more. Certifications of any kind in wine studies are encouraged
• 21 years of age or older
• Experience using Point of Sale systems, TOAST preferred
• Punctual and reliable
• Self-motivated, works well independently
• Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude
• Excellent communication skills
• Service oriented – always willing to lend a hand when needed
• Collaborative team player with ability to take direction
• A polished and professional appearance (but still fun!)
• Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Must have or be able to obtain a current WA MAST 12 permit and WA State Food Handler’s permit
• Be able to lift 50lbs. or more
• Be able to stand/walk/bend for 8 – 10 hours
• Fully vaccinated for COVID-19
Responsibilities
• Opening and closing of the shop
• Warmly greet and engage all guests that enter the shop
• Accurately handle transactions through the POS system
• Effectively create guest relationships
• Display a natural sales ability and a drive to increase shop sales
• Help lead team in growing wine club memberships
• Assist guests with choosing wine by active listening and creative engagement
• Lead inventory, stocking and rotation of products as needed
• Prepare and serve simple and elegant menu items
• Assist guests with carry-outs as needed
• Collaborate creatively with management to maintain a lively and dynamic workplace
• Supports management with administrative tasks
• Provides management with special order reports, customer requests, low inventory reports, employee concerns and staffing issues as needed
• Reports to the Wine Director
